League City council today will consider creating an ordinance that would prohibit the chaining or tethering of dogs except under certain circumstances, among other measures meant to improve animal welfare.
All week leading up to the Monday Night Football matchup between the Houston Texans and Denver Broncos, ESPN cleverly utilized some late-1990s post-grunge soft rock to tease the game, which represented quarterback Brock Osweiler’s return to the home field of his former team.
“The Roarin’ Twenties, Puttin’ on the Glitz” was the name of this year’s social event/reunion presented by girls from the sororities of yesteryear with the fundraising aspect benefitting Ronald McDonald House Galveston. The event was held at the Top Gallant Room on the Strand, music was provided by The Line Up, catering by Olympia Pier 21 and photography by Jody Micheletta-Marabella. They also offered a casino and a photo booth for the guests’ enjoyment.
NEW YORK (AP) — Event planner Beth Bernstein decided she had had enough with Donald Trump after his 2005 hot-mic boasts about groping women came to light earlier this month. She removed photos of weddings she had thrown at a Trump hotel in Chicago from her website, wrote to hotel staff to remove her from the list of "preferred vendors" and posted a sort of call to arms on her blog.

I am happy DISD Hughes Road has a new, exciting and dedicated prinicipal. The last prinicpal had a record of running off good older teachers with a lot of awesome experience for the DISD. The New HR representative the past year, did nothing to see the massive exit of teachers and older teachers from this campus. Finally during the second semester (2014) , the past prinicipal was assigned to a newly formed/created job position in DISD. Good Luck to new Principal of DISD Hughes Road, it is going to take a lot to lift the morale of what's left of teachers who stayed and stuck it out for changing of the guard.Sep 29, 2014
Kudos to Judge Lonnie Cox, I have always known him as a fair judge. I am happy he stepping in legally to squash the lynching or the firing of Mrs, Quiroga. I guess Miss Bonnie was not the part of the "ONE OF US " all politicians are using now for the upcoming election. I think voters need to realize they are in the 21st century, we need to vote the right candidate (Democrat or Republican) who best represent our interest in our city, county, district, state, and national. Just check out the new Abbot commercials, enough for people to realize what is happening, various state and county politicians are serving their best interest in taking money out of school budgets, highway budgets, medical budgets and other budgets to feed their own pet peeve projects. Once again, thanks Lonnie Cox for serving the people of our county!Sep 25, 2014
The jury found that Capt. Byron Frankland, Sgt. Douglas Balli and officers Dannie Simpson II and John Rutherford used excessive force against members of the wedding party. ENOUGH SAID, then why were the plaintiffs not awarded the money requested in their suit for the mental and physical anguish they have suffered and continued for the past five years. I personally know a lot of the plaintiffs, they are awesome citizens in our county.
Yes, there are very good Galveston Police Officers, but the officers who arrived this night at H2O let their testerone overcome their reactions due to the idle time after Hurricane Ike. It is a shame, the police sadly mistreated any human being who got in their way. I remember the police roughed up a Federal Employee assigned to Galveston for Hurricane Ike Relief.May 13, 2014
I feel the plaintiffs are due the money requested for the suffering they have been put through because of the Galveston Police Department actions on the night of October 2008. Not only for the night of but for the past 5 1/2 years of an awful and scarring nightmare remaining mentally. Knowing most of the plaintiffs, they are solid and model citizens in their community.May 7, 2014
There is no light at the end of the tunnel. Continued woes of LMISD, an opportunity to have fresh thoughts and fresh ideas would help LMISD. Where is the win-win for the district with an individual board member allowed to take a leave of absense, due to a very serious charge. The missed vote could hinder important decisions to enhance the children of the district. Most organizations have a code of conduct to request dismissal of position if a max of three missed scheduled board meetings. Good Luck to the LMISD Supertindent, having the continual presence of the buddy, buddy system. Mar 27, 2014
I personally know the O'Balle Family and the other good citizens who were over abused and beaten by the Galveston Police Department at the H2O. These citizens have been productively and successfully involved with their childrens' activities and organizations in their community, mainly in the Texas City/La Marque area. I was at the wedding, there were no out of line attitudes or behavior that would have warranted the harsh and abusive actions taken by the police against defenseless individuals. Gil O'Balle is one of the most quiet, sincere, loving, and very respectable person I have ever known. Gil, his wife, children, and friends' security, freedom, and rights were violated that very night at the H2O.Mar 27, 2014
I find it amazing this county commisioner has claimed oversight, in replying to the questionaire. Now as a voter, you need to ask yourself how many important taxpayer topics have been an oversight and put aside. This commissioner's son is running for Justice of Peace in same precinct, but does not have a job, but if he wins the republican ballot, he hopes to get into office on the possibility of another voter laziness of pulling straight ticket allowing more unrepresentation in our county. I hope today's news announcement will wake up voters to exercise their vote for the best candidate. We are 21st century and we are encouraged to vote via peer pressure.Feb 18, 2014
