FREINDSWOOD — A Friendswood man has pleaded guilty in federal court to possessing and receiving hundreds of pieces of child pornography over the Internet.
Some of the images were of children as young as 10 months.
Timothy L. Bourgeois, 48, pleaded guilty to charges of receipt of child pornography and possession of child pornography.
He told U.S. District Judge Samuel Kent of Galveston he collected the images to keep him from molesting his own daughters.
Kent, finding that Bourgeois was a danger to his own children, ordered him held in federal custody until sentencing in November. Bourgeois faces up to 10 years in prison and a fine of up to $250,000 on each charge.
Bourgeois was arrested in 2003. In March 2002, a search of his home in the 1900 block of North Mission Circle led to the seizure of two computers and seven floppy disks.
Investigators found 450 pictures and 10 movies of children engaged in sex acts with grown men and women in folders labeled “illegal porn.”
The investigation began in December 2001, after Bourgeois posted a sexually explicit image of a young girl using an online alias. The online profile of the alias contained a photograph of Bourgeois.
