GALVESTON — Two men, ages 61 and 29, were in jail Friday, charged with raping a pair of girls, ages 4 and 5, in what prosecutors said was a long-term abuse case.
The older man is the girls’ grandfather, and the younger man is their father.
Assistant District Attorney Bill Reed, who prosecutes sex crimes in Galveston County, said the attacks on the girls were not isolated incidents. “The abuse covers an extended period of time,” he said.
The girls reportedly told another relative they had been attacked, and that person called the police. Officers arrested the 61-year-old man Thursday and the younger man Friday, according to police reports.
Each faces a charge of aggravated sexual assault of a child, with a possible prison term of five to 99 years, and indecency with a child by contact, with a possible prison term of two to 20 years. Each charge also carries a possible fine of up to $10,000. Both were in jail Friday, under bonds totaling $60,000 each.
The Daily News is not disclosing the men’s names because of their relationships with the victims.
