LEAGUE CITY — If a person was reported missing, the Galveston Police Department had bloodhound Tracker Jack to pick up the trail.
However, Tracker Jack is missing.
Eric Cox, handler and human partner of the 5-year-old bloodhound, last saw Tracker on Saturday afternoon playing in the officer’s fenced yard.
Cox, who lives in League City, takes the dog home with him when both are off-duty, according to police department policy.
About 3:45 p.m. Saturday, Cox noticed the dog was not in the yard, police said.
Witnesses told police they last saw Tracker near Second Street and Alabama Avenue on Saturday afternoon. A search yielded no results.
Isle officers made a report about the missing dog to the League City Police Department.
Galveston police Lt. D.J. Alvarez, who heads the department’s community services division, asked that anyone who spots Tracker Jack call League City police at (281) 332-2566.
Tracker Jack is black and tan, 105 pounds, has a scar on the front left leg and was wearing two orange collars, according to police reports.
