TEXAS CITY — Friends of a Texas City native who was killed in a San Antonio shooting will have a fundraiser today for a college scholarship fund.
Dubbed Bonesapalooza after homicide victim Kevin Bones, the musical festival featuring Sam Navarro and the Lonestar Devils and four other bands will be at Melrose Pub, 20th and Postoffice streets, in Galveston.
Money raised from the $10 door fee and T-shirt sales will go to establish scholarships at San Jacinto Junior College, event organizer Michael Humphrey said.
Bones, 35, was one of three people killed July 5 in a holiday weekend shooting at a west San Antonio Apartment complex. Also killed were Courtney Gass, 26, and her 2-year-old daughter, Anika, who were also Texas City natives.
Texas City native Christopher Allgood has been charged in Gass’ slaying and is the primary suspect in the killing of Bones and the toddler. San Antonio investigators said they are waiting for results from forensic tests before pursuing additional charges against Allgood, who is in the Bexar County Jail on bonds totaling $205,000.
