GALVESTON — One man was in Galveston County Jail on Tuesday and investigators were planning to file charges against another after police said the two kidnapped and shot a 19-year-old Galveston man Friday.
Police investigators said the 19-year-old man was at an apartment on the 600 block of North Ferry Road about 11:15 p.m. Friday when two men approached him.
The men forced the 19-year-old outside at gunpoint and into a vehicle, police Lt. D.J. Alvarez said.
The kidnappers drove the vehicle to 55th Street and Avenue O, shot the man while he was still in the car and dumped him out on the street, police said.
The 19-year-old suffered one gunshot wound in the abdomen, Alvarez said.
Officers responding to the initial abduction were able to get the names of two suspects from witnesses.
Police set up around the home of one of the suspects and arrested the man as he pulled up in a vehicle matching the one described by witnesses.
Officers recovered a pistol from his back pocket and another one in the car, Alvarez said. The officers also confiscated 5 ounces of marijuana, according to reports.
Police charged Adrian Alvarado, 24, of Galveston, with aggravated kidnapping and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. He was in Galveston County Jail on Tuesday awaiting trial on $500,000 bond.
A second suspect had not been arrested Tuesday, Alvarez said.
Police did not know the condition of the 19-year-old man. He was taken to University of Texas Medical Branch hospital.
