H.S. Girls basketball
Creek 71, Deer Park 41
The Lady Wildcats outscored Deer Park 37-15 in the first half and cruised to the big victory.
Taylor Longley led Creek (1-0) with 19 points, while Brentney Branch had 13. Kaylin Dugie added eight assists and Nyha Carter had seven rebounds.

Springs 35, Dawson 29
The Lady Chargers outscored Dawson by 10 points in the second quarter to key the victory.
Morgan Kilgore led Springs (1-0) with nine points.

La Marque 58, La Porte 43
The Lady Cougars scored 35 points in the second half to take out Class 5A La Porte.
Jaleesa Allen led the way with 18 points, while Brianna Lewis added 11 for La Marque (1-0).
The La Marque freshmen also won, 56-12.
Jasmine Porterie had 22 points and six steals; Keiyaira Jones had 16 points and 10 steals; and Dazlyn Lenor had 14 points.

The Lady Stings scored 18 points in the third quarter to pull away for the victory.
Texas City (1-0) was led by Moneisha Williams with nine points and Raven Brown with eight.

Youth basketball
City opens youth basketball league
GALVESTON — The city’s free youth basketball league starts up later this year for children between 6 years old and 14 years old. Divisions are based on age.
The deadline to register is Nov. 30.

Austin 28, Central 16 (eighth grade)
For the first time in the school’s history, Austin defeated Central.

Central 33, Austin 19 (seventh grade)
George Santos was the leader for Austin on defense, while quarterback Jacob Simon made several big plays offensively.
