Betty Ruth (Boswell) Botting
HITCHCOCK — Mrs. Betty Ruth (Boswell) Botting passed from this life Sunday evening, November 1, 2009, at her home.
Born November 6, 1928, in North Zulch, Madison County, Texas, Mrs. Botting had been a resident of Hitchcock for 55 years. She met her husband, Bill Botting in 1946 and they were married on Thanksgiving Day in 1948 and would have celebrated 61 years together this November. She had worked at Union Carbide in the purchasing department from 1947-1952. She had been a very active member of First United Methodist Church in Hitchcock since 1954, including Sunday school, Methodist Women and was a faithful in her attendance with her husband and sons. Betty loved to travel, to see it all and made friends easily. She loved her family and especially enjoyed their grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her son, William Ronald Botting; father and mother, James Asa and Maude (Payne) Boswell; her brothers, Morris, Thomas and James Boswell, her sisters, Louise Carpenter and Pearl Mills.
Survivors include her loving husband Percy “Bill” Botting; sons and their wives, Robert Botting, Larrey and Cindy Botting, Don and Deborah Botting; grandchildren Katharine Bethany Botting-Wheeler and husband, Chris, Joshua Lee Botting and wife, Lindsey, Dustin Ray Botting, Dayna Michelle Botting, William Ronald Botting, Shane Martin Botting; great-grandchildren, MaKayla Nicole Wheeler, Madison Renee Botting and Carson Lee Botting; numerous nieces, nephews, lifelong friends and other extended family.
Funeral services will be conducted 10:00 a.m. Thursday, November 5, 2009, in the chapel of Hayes Funeral Home with Reverend Sharon Sabon. A private cremation will be conducted under the direction of Hayes Funeral Home.
Friends may call from 5 - 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home, 10412 Highway 6, Hitchcock (409) 925-3501.
