SANTA FE — Police arrested a 44-year-old teacher accused of using his school district computer to entice a girl the age of his students to have sex with him.
Michael Scott Call, of Trenton, was charged with online solicitation of a minor after Santa Fe police called Grayson County investigators and told them about the weeks of chatting between the teacher and who he thought was a 14-year-old girl.
The girl was actually Santa Fe Police detective Robert Powers, who has used online accounts to talk to Call and 17 others who have all been arrested since November 2006.
Call is a teacher at Whitewright Middle School in Whitewright, a town about 60 miles northeast of Dallas.
Powers said Call contacted the girl on her profile page and talked to her on an instant messenger 12 times since March 29.
Call allegedly used a Web cam to talk to the girl and “did things you can only imagine” on the video, Powers said. He allegedly asked to meet the girl in Santa Fe and told Powers he would make the trip after he figured out a reason to get away, Powers said.
At Powers’ request, a grand jury subpoenaed the IP address Call was chatting from, and Powers realized the man was working from a school district computer.
“Once we knew he was a teacher, we wanted to shut him down,” Powers said.
