Bettie Jean Bennett
TEXAS CITY — Bettie Jean Bennett, our devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend, was born February 7, 1946, in Warden, Louisiana and entered her eternal rest on October 29, 2009.
Bettie was a longtime resident of Texas City and was an active member of Greater Barbour’s Chapel Baptist Church where she served in several ministries. She retired as a Surgical Technician from Mainland Medical Center.
She leaves to cherish her memories her husband of 23 years, Chester Bennett, Jr.; two daughters Stacy (Leowen) Elder and Karen (Raydon Alexander) Austin; stepchildren, Donald (Cynthia) Bennett, Chester (Debra) Bennett, III, Sheryl (Henry) Jones, Clifton (Cassandra) Bennett, Yvonne (Claude) Terrell, Donna Marie (Michael) Sapry, Doris Lynell (John) Drisdale; her parents John and Ester B. Reed; sisters, Odessa (Elmer) Gibson, Debra (James) Campbell and Patricia (Robert) Woodkins; brother John Reed, Jr.; 4 grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, family members and friends.
Services will be held at Greater Barbour’s Chapel Baptist Church, 7420 FM 1765 in Texas City with visitation being held Friday, November 6th from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. and Home Going Services Saturday, November 7, 2009 at 1:00 p.m., the Rev. James E. Brown, Sr., officiating. Burial will follow at Rising Star Cemetery in La Marque.
