TEXAS CITY — A jury of eight men and four women on Monday convicted Ronnie Roshell Johnson, 21, in the fatal shooting of Luis Joel Gonzales-Sosa.
Johnson was found guilty of murder in the May 19, 2007, shooting.
The jury seated in Galveston’s 10th District Court, with visiting judge Frank Carmona presiding, reached its unanimous decision after four hours of deliberation.
The jury was hearing evidence late Monday afternoon in the punishment phase of the trial.
A Texas City patrol officer found Gonzales-Sosa slumped over the steering wheel of his pickup truck, which was parked on the railroad tracks in the 400 block of 10th Avenue North.
Johnson was arrested in August 2008.
Gonzales-Sosa could have been at a nightclub in the hours before he was shot, police said.
