FRIENDSWOOD — The Friendswood High School German program will commemorate the 20th anniversary of the fall of the Berlin Wall by building a paper wall across the senior mall, and then tearing it down.
Each high school class and club is encouraged to decorate a piece of the Berlin Wall.
The students will build the wall with 6-foot sections of white butcher paper. Construction begins Oct. 16. The students will tear down the wall Nov. 9.
“We hope to cover the entire stretch of wall in the senior mall to illustrate the breadth of influence the Iron Curtain had on the world,” counselor Dara Watt said.
“Our students have never known the Cold War or a time of divided Europe because they were all born since the fall.”
