Man charged in sex assault

FRIENDSWOOD — Police charged a 37-year-old man Wednesday with sexual assault of a child after a patrol officer accused the man having sex with a 16-year-old girl, police said.
An officer driving past Oasis Car Wash, 2920 FM 528, about 9:30 p.m. noticed a vehicle parked behind the property, according to police reports.
The business was closed for the day and the officer approached the vehicle and saw a man and a girl having sex.
The man and girl were acquaintances and did not meet on the Internet, according to police reports.
Police arrested Charles Michael Simmons, 37, of Harris County, and charged him with sexual assault of a child.
Police later learned Simmons was wanted in Florida for violating a court order. Florida has not yet authorized an extradition of the man, police said.
The 37-year-old was taken Thursday to the Harris County Jail; no bond had been set on the charge.
