Victims of fatal wreck identified

FRIENDSWOOD — Authorities on Tuesday identified the man who died at the scene of a head-on collision as Timothy Austin Gilbert, 20, of Friendswood.
The crash at 3:30 p.m. Monday also injured three others, Friendswood police said.
A preliminary statement on the accident released by police Monday incorrectly reported the number of accident victims taken by helicopter to Memorial Hermann Hospital in Houston.
Gilbert was traveling eastbound in the 2400 block of West Parkwood Avenue in a 1996 Ford Ranger pickup and attempting to make a left turn into a convenience store parking lot, police said.
A 2003 Kia Spectra collided almost head-on with the pickup, injuring driver Kady Jane Davenport, 18, of San Leon, and passengers Lindsey Babineaux, 22, of Dickinson, and Kevin Kohute, 22, of Alvin.
Davenport was listed in fair condition, while Babineaux was in good condition and Kohute was discharged, a hospital spokeswoman said Tuesday night.
Gilbert was wearing a seat belt, police said.
Police continue to investigate the crash. There was no indication at the scene that drugs or alcohol factored in the crash, police said.
