Fanatics also were treated to an abundance of strong performances from prep school players.
But when all was said and done, these are the ones who were head and shoulders above the rest.
Here is Tuesday’s Top 10.
1. Matt Guidry, RB, Clear Springs
Guidry was a one-man wrecking crew for the Chargers, rushing for 274 yards, catching passes for 39 yards and even throwing a completion himself. He also scored four fourth-quarter touchdowns on runs of 72, 64, five and 44 yards. Whew!
2. Armanti Foreman, WR, Texas City
Foreman caught three passes for 27 yards, including one that found him finish in the end zone, but his biggest play came on a 44-yard punt return that was good for six points.
3. Clayton Webb, QB, Bay Area Christian
Webb was efficient, going 9-for-12 passing for 159 yards and had a pair of scoring strikes.
4. Marquez Oliver, QB, Hitchcock
The snap-taker went 5-for-11 passing then really strutted his stuff rushing. He had 80 yards on 23 carries and scored twice, one of which was a 29-yarder.
5. Sam Longbotham, RB, Friendswood
Longbotham rushed for 154 yards and scored on a 33-yard scamper.
6. Dylan Blake, RB, High Island
Blake rushed for 155 yards and scored three times.
7. D’Onta Foreman, RB, Texas City
In limited work, Foreman rushed for 89 yards, with the bulk coming on touchdown runs of 20 and 67 yards.
8. Donald Lynch, RB, Texas City
Lynch made the most of his five carries, rushing for 86 yards and scoring twice.
9. Krysten Hammon, RB, Dickinson
Hammon rushed for 135 yards and had a 12-yard TD ramble.
10. Jacob Simon, QB, Ball
Simon completed nine passes for 139 yards, including a 79-yard scoring strike to Kevin Batiste.
