Dawson 9, Ball High 2

PEARLAND — The Tors put up two runs in the top of the first inning but could manage no more Tuesday in a District 24-4A loss to Pearland Dawson.

Baine Schoenvogel went 2-for-4 for Ball High, and Ty Hoecker had a hit and one RBI.

Santa Fe 5, Texas City 1

TEXAS CITY — The Indians scored all of their runs in the top of the second inning Tuesday to down the Stings in District 24-4A action.

Santa Fe starter Preston Plovanich pitched 42⁄3 shutout innings, giving up only one hit with eight strikeouts and three walks to earn the win.

Jordan Gunter had a hit and drove in two runs for the Indians. Brandon Holder had a hit and one RBI, Yadir Muniz drove in a run, and Timothy Johnson went 2-for-2 with two walks.

Brandon Galvan went 2-for-3 for Texas City, and teammate Michael Herrera had one RBI.

Rice 10, Hitchcock 9 (9)

ALTAIR — The Bulldogs’ quest for their first District 26-2A win fell short Tuesday. Hitchcock gave up a two runs to Rice Consolidated in the bottom of the seventh that forced extra innings, and the Raiders scored once in the ninth to win.

Kyle Cook had a big game for Hitchcock, going 3-for-5 with a double, a homer and four RBIs. He also pitched eight innings, and only one of Rice’s 10 runs were earned. Cook finished with 12 strikeouts and seven walks.

Drager Landry and Chris Hernandez each had one hit and one RBI for the Bulldogs.
