PEARLAND – The Friendswood Mustangs baseball team pounded the Pearland Dawson Eagle pitching in a key 24-4A district baseball game Tuesday night.

The Mustangs got things started in the first inning when the first four batters — Lael Lockhart, Ryan Shetter, Walker Williams and Andrew Barba — reached base and scored.
Barba’s bat stayed hot as he smoked a two-RBI double in the second to score Shetter, who doubled, and Williams, who walked.
Ryan Bertelsman extended the Mustangs’ lead with an RBI double, scoring Barba, then Ryan Dupuis blooped a single to bring home Carson Kaufman and Bertelsman.
The Mustangs scored 10 runs in the first two innings.
Friendswood starting pitcher Lael Lockhart was dominant through the first 41/3 innings before giving up an infield single to end the no-hit bit. Lockhart got the win, allowing two runs and striking out seven.
Bertelsman was 4-for-5, scored three runs and had five RBIs. Dupuis was 2-for-4 with five RBIs. Barba scored four runs and batted in two, and Williams was 2-for-3 with three runs scored and an RBI.
