Fishing was non-existent around the Galveston area Sunday, as moderate northerly winds and rain prevailed all day. Tuesday and Wednesday look the best for fishing this week, as the rain is forecast to be out of here and light winds taking over.

For those Trump supporters still trying to convince me (or themselves) that Trump was just putting on a show and that Steve Bannon is an “economic nationalist” not a white supremacist I beg to differ. Feel free to refer to the barrage of tweets and retweets on everything from “Saturday Night Live” sketches to flag burning for a representative sample of the president-elect’s policy statements to the nation.
Russian novelist Fyodor Dostoyevsky wrote that “The world will be saved by beauty,” which leads us to ask two rhetorical questions: first, does this mean that the world is lost and, second, is ugliness to blame for its condition? Rhetorical questions require no answer, but what we can see for ourselves is that in their multiple forms — artistic, personal and moral — beauty and ugliness contend for cultural supremacy. Today the general consensus among humanistic thinkers is that a “cult of ugliness” prevails.
