GALVESTON – The Galveston College baseball team swept a doubleheader against Blinn College on Saturday.

The wins improved the Whitecaps record to 39-17.

In the opener, Galveston scored a pair of runs in the second inning and two more in the third to win, 4-2.

All of the runs scored with two outs.

Raphael Gladu, who went 2-for-4 in the game and scored twice, singled to center with one out and advanced to second base on a sacrifice by Taylor Beene.

Zach Drouillard answered with a triple then scored on a single by Laiky Uribe.

Gladu got things started in the third inning with a two-out single.

Beene reached base and advanced to second on an error when the left fielder failed to catch a pop-up and Gladu came around to score.

Drouillard answered the call again with another RBI single, this time driving in Beene.

Jose Rendon got the win for Galveston, allowing two runs on 10 hits with four strikeouts in 62/3 innings. Kyle Legget got the last out for the save.

In the second game, the Whitecaps fell behind when Blinn scored three runs with four singles in the first inning off starter Ethan Stremmel.

Stremmel settled down and held Blinn scoreless until the ninth inning to earn the win, with Legget again getting the last out and earning the save.

The Whitecaps answered with a run in the second inning, another in the fourth and three more in the fifth to make it a 5-3 lead.

Drouillard scored the first run for Galveston when Nathan Turner worked a bases-loaded walk.

Drouillard scored the second run after getting on base with a single and coming all the way around on a double by Jorge Davila.

Austin Baron went 3-for-5 with an RBI, and Jose Garcia went 2-for-5 and scored a run.
