LEAGUE CITY – Clear Creek shortstop Ben Rigby worked a bases-loaded walk in a win for the Wildcats on Saturday.
Clear Creek (7-1 in district 24-5A) won the extra-inning game, 11-10, against the Clear Falls Knights (2-6 in district 24-5A).
Clear Creek jumped out to an early two run lead in the first inning when Sean Kelly got an RBI walk scoring Michael Roland who walked to lead off the inning.
Later in the inning, Stephen Garcia hit a sacrifice fly to score Landon Etzel, who advanced to third on a balk that was called on Clear Falls starting pitcher Collin Fries.
Clear Falls started their scoring in the third inning when five consecutive batters reached base highlighted by Mikie Gaudet and Chris Brandli back to back doubles.
The Wildcats then tied the game at 3 in the bottom of the third inning on a sacrifice fly by Sean Kelly, scoring Satchel McEroy who used his legs to steal second after he hit a leadoff single.
Clear Creek added to its lead in the bottom of the fifth thanks to an RBI infield single by Michael Roland, which scored Ben Rigby, who reached on an a bad throw by Knights shortstop Victor Garcia, stole second, and reached third base on a passed ball.
Clear Falls had three big hits in the top of the sixth inning to score three runs and take a one-run lead.
The big blast came from Brandli, who hit his second two-run home run.
Clear Creek took advantage of the wildness of Clear Falls relief pitcher Sam Hurley in the bottom of the eighth. Hurley hit Etzel, allowed a single to Hill, and plunked Kelly to load the bases. With two outs, Rigby got the RBI walk on five pitches.
Wildcat pitcher Trever Pardo pitched two scoreless innings, striking out two to get the win.
On Tuesday, Clear Creek will travel to Dickinson and Clear Falls will host Clear Brook. Both games start at 6:30 p.m.
