Congratulations to the Friendswood Mustangs and the Lady Mustangs on winning their respective District 24-4A golf championships.

A tip of the Tam-O-Shanter also goes to Robert Todd and to Emma Brackett on their individual titles — the former by 11 and the latter by a whopping 15 shots.

Brackett and teammates Alex Magid, Abbey Hayford, Victoria Hartman and Abby Hendrick will travel to the Region III-4A competition at River Ridge today and Wednesday; they will be joined by Medalist Todd, individual runner-up Bryce Dooley, Daniel Bradley, Aron Hetsko and Harrison Slone.

Texas City standout Zach Haley will advance in singles competition in the company of the Lady Stingaree team, which finished second in district play. Team members are Autumn Gilley, Lindsey Nolte, Amanda Jensen, Maddi Monroe and Meghan Reid. Friendswood’s Shelby Michael will compete for the individual title.

Friendswood’s domination included the Mustang’s No. 2 team, comprised of Jacob Gill, Sterling Killian, Adam Michaelek, Sam Kinloch and Nick Oldham, who also earned a spot in regionals.
