The high school basketball season is almost in full postseason mode. While some boys teams have games to finish up Friday, playoff schedules for girls teams are set for this weekend while Class 5A boys teams are set to tip off the postseason Tuesday.

In girls playoff action, the La Marque Lady Cougars lead things off today with a Class 3A area round game at 7 p.m. in Dayton against Hardin-Jefferson.

Then there’s a full slate of girls hoops playoff games Friday.

In 4A, Friendswood will face Tomball Memorial on Friday at Summer Creek High School in Humble, while Ball High will play Tomball on Friday at North Shore High School.

In 5A action, the Clear Springs Chargers look to continue their march for a second trip to state with an area round game against Channelview on Friday in Deer Park.

Clear Brook plays North Shore on Friday at Phillips Field House in Pasadena.

Boys action is set to start on Tuesday. Coming off a Clear Creek ISD sweep of the district’s four playoff spots, Clear Creek, Clear Lake, Clear Falls and Clear Springs will all be in action.

District 24-5A champions Clear Lake and runner-up Clear Creek await a seeding game to determine their first-round opponent. They’ll open the playoffs in a doubleheader Tuesday at Pearland Dawson High School.

Fort Bend Elkins and Fort Bend Dulles are playing Friday for third place in their district. The winner will play Clear Creek, and the loser gets top-seeded Clear Lake.

There will also be a Clear Creek district doubleheader in Manvel on Tuesday — Clear Springs will play Fort Bend Travis, while Clear Falls will play Fort Bend Bush in the second game.

In Class 1A, Premier Learning Academy in La Marque won a district title and a first-round bye.

The boys 4A parings are expected to be announced Friday once district plays wraps up. Friendswood, Texas City and Dawson have each advanced to the postseason, and Ball High still has a shot at the fourth playoff spot.

The Tors are in a three-way tie with Goose Creek Memorial and Galena Park for the fourth and final playoff spot from 24-4A — all are 6-7 in league play. The schedule favors Ball High as the Tors face Baytown Lee on Friday in the final district game, while Goose Creek plays at Texas City and Galena Park is at Friendswood.

The Stings and Mustangs are tied atop the district standings, while Lee’s only 24-4A wins have come against Santa Fe, a team that hasn’t won a district game this year. The Tors beat the Ganders in their first district matchup, 60-42.

The La Marque boys and Hitchcock boys teams will also be in postseason play next week. Their matchups will be determined this weekend.
