LEAGUE CITY – After a solid season on the field, four Galveston County softball players — all teammates — were honored as total student-athletes by being selected to the Texas Girls Coaches Association’s academic all-state team for class 5A.

Senior first baseman and pitcher Taylor Troutt, senior outfielder Madison Michna, senior outfielder Rachel Bobo and senior outfielder Madison Ulmer of the Knights squad each received the academic all-state distinctions, which were released Monday.

To be eligible for the postseason honor, athletes must be seniors with a grade average of 94 or above and must be a member of the team in good standing. Athletes are nominated by their coaches and the TGCA picks teams for classes 1A through 5A.
