Baytown Sterling 9, Texas City 3

TEXAS CITY – Despite a big day at the dish from Andrew Allen, who finished 2-for-3, the Stingarees lost to Baytown Sterling at Robinson Stadium on Friday in the Texas City/Dickinson tournament.

Two runs in the bottom of the fourth helped pull the Stingarees close the deficit to 6-3. A sacrifice fly by Jacob Fuller and a fielder’s choice triggered the Stings’ comeback.

Beaumont West Brook 8, Texas City 4

TEXAS CITY – The Stingarees lost to Beaumont West Brook on Friday in the Texas City/Dickinson tournament despite outhitting Beaumont Westbrook eight to seven.

The Stings were led by Cody Garza’s hitting. Cody went 3-for-4, drove in a run and scored twice. He singled in the first and third innings and doubled in the fifth.

For the Stings, Judson Schaper had a hit and an RBI, Andrew Allen had a hit and scored a run, Zack Powell went 1-for-3 with a walk and a run scored, Allen Mull had a hit and reached on a walk and Jacob Fuller had a hit and an RBI.

Texas City 7, Fort Bend Bush 0

TEXAS CITY – Ian Lovejoy and Zack Powell teamed up to throw a no-hitter for the Stingarees in a win against Fort Bend Bush on Saturday in the Texas City/Dickinson Tournament.

Lovejoy started the game and struck out two and walked four in 52⁄3 innings before Powell came in to get the final out.

Five runs in the first three innings gave the Stings more than enough offense. An RBI single by Andrew Allen in the first inning and a two-run single by David Mull during the second inning supplied the early offense for Stingarees.

Mull racked up two RBIs on two hits for the Stingarees.
