ALVIN – The Galveston College baseball team made the return trip to Alvin on Friday to finish their doubleheader against Alvin Community College then returned to the island tough-luck losers.

Alvin completed the comeback it started Thursday after tying the game in the bottom of the six, adding a run in the last of the 11th to down the Whitecaps, 6-5.

An RBI single by Cameron Cooper plated the game’s final run and ended the game.

The squads began their doubleheader Thursday, with Galveston College (14-6) winning the opener, 3-1. The second game was suspended late Thursday with a 5-5 tie heading into the ninth inning.

Jose Garcia homered and drove in three runs in the finale for Galveston, and teammate Ross McWhorter finished the game 5-for-6 with two doubles and two RBI.

The Whitecaps return to Alvin for the third straight day today for a noon game.
