I have never been a real fan of the National Basketball Association.

While I enjoy basketball, the NBA game for me has been a bore — with the exception of Michael Jordan — since Magic Johnson and Hakeem Olajuwon left the game.

But, The Beard and Superman do have me watching when the Houston Rockets play these days.

James Harden, aka The Beard, and Dwight Howard, aka Superman, are the leaders of an exciting team.

I was already a fan of Harden, whose work ethic and skill was a key to the winning ways of the Oklahoma City Thunder.

He’s elevated his game since landing in Houston.

As for Howard?

I spent much of the season prepared for the former Orlando Magic and Los Angeles Lakers center to implode.

He hasn’t.

Howard appears very comfortable in Houston.

While still a great quote machine and personality, Howard has let his game do most of the talking.

Used to be in Houston, the fans of H&H were listeners to Hudson and Harrigan on KILT radio.

These days, H&H fans wear Rocket red to see Harden and Howard dominate.

Add Chandler Parsons to the mix, and it’s a formula for victory.

This Rockets’ play last week proved that.

And how.

The Rockets are 8-2 in their last 10 games, and after Friday’s blow out of Indiana, Houston is on a five-game winning streak.

Three of those wins came against the defending champions — the Miami Heat and LeBron James — and blowouts of the Orlando Magic and the Indiana Pacers, owners of the league’s best record heading into that game.

The game against Indiana proved why people “Fear the Beard.”

Harden finished the game with 28 points, four assists and three steals.

At one point in the third period, Harden had a steal and scored three of his points on the same play.

And it was in the third period that Harden stole the show.

He scored 16 points and was 6-for-8 shooting, including 3-for-4 from beyond the 3-point line.

Howard added another 15 points and seven rebounds.

Stats aside, the energy these two players bring to the court is what makes the team exciting.

H&H truly enjoy playing the game, and that is catching.
