GALVESTON – Galveston College batters racked up 15 hits Monday against South Suburban Community College’s Antonio Majstorev but lost, 4-3.

Galveston’s Jose Garcia, Kevin Macias, Ross McWhorter, Austin Baron and Taylor Beene each had two hits, and Garcia, Macias and Baron each drove in a run.

One of Macias’s hits was an RBI triple that scored Jorge Davila to put the Whitecaps up, 2-0, in the second inning.

Jeremy Sylvester took the loss, giving up three runs — all earned — in the sixth inning, when South Suburban Community College went up for good on an RBI double by Stephen Letz and a two-run single by Jake Hickey.

Whitecaps pitcher Jonathan Hennigan gave up a run in the fifth inning during his only inning of work.

Galveston pitchers Ryan Larison and Ben Cone each pitched two scoreless innings, and Shelby Collier, Gabriel Klobosits and Brian Baker each pitched one inning without allowing any runs.

The split dropped the Whitecaps’ record of 14-9. Galveston College’s next game is at 3 p.m. Friday in Laredo against Laredo College.
