BAYTOWN – The Friendswood boys and girls golf teams have the clubhouse lead after the first round of the 24-4A district golf tourney.

The Friendswood 1 boys squad has a 40-stroke lead after the first 18 holes.

Galveston’s Ball High and the Friendswood 2 team are tied for second with a first round 348.

The Friendswood 1 girls team shot a 373 on the first day, while Texas City is in second with a 413.

The Friendswood 2 squad is two strokes back in third with a 414.

In individual play, the Friendswood Mustangs hold the top five spots.

Robert Todd’s 71 leads all golfers and is six strokes ahead of teammate Bryce Dooley, who is in second.

In girls individual play, Friendswood’s Emma Brackett shot an 82 and has a three-stroke lead over Texas City’s Autumn Gilley. Alex Magid of Friendswood is in third after shooting an 88.

The tourney, played at Evergreen Point Golf Course in Baytown, concludes today.
