District 24-6A

Clear Creek 68, Clear Falls 44


Clear Falls won the first quarter, 11-10, but it was all Wildcats the rest of the way as Clear Creek stays tied for first place with Dickinson in district as the first half of 24-6A play went into the books.

The Wildcats went into the locker room with a 23-18 halftime lead and controlled the second half that saw Clear Creek dominate, 45-26.

Nate Jackson had his hands in the oven, scoring a game-high 27 points for the Wildcats. Donta Smith chipped in with 10 points for Clear Creek.

Dorian Mason led the Knights with 10 points.

Both teams will be back in action at home 7 p.m. Tuesday when Clear Creek (6-1 in District 24-6A) has a big matchup against Clear Springs (5-2), and Clear Falls (2-5) will be looking to have a bounce-back second half of district play against Clear Brook (3-4).

Dickinson 55, Clear Brook 45


In a gritty, low-scoring affair Saturday, the Dickinson Gators pulled away from the upset-minded Clear Brook Wolverines late in the fourth quarter to remain tied for first place in the district standings.

After Dickinson won the first quarter, 8-6, Clear Brook turned things around to take a 19-18 lead into the halftime break. The two teams entered the fourth quarter knotted at 29-29.

Offense picked up for both teams in the final period, and the Gators managed to build a 43-38 lead at the 2:32 mark of the fourth quarter and steadily pulled away to close out the game.

Just three players — Tramon Mark (21 points), Quante Julien (20 points) and Jalen Wydermyer (11 points, 11 rebounds) — accounted for 52 of the Gators' 55 total points. Deuce Guidry chipped in with eight assists.

Dickinson (6-1 in district) begins the second round of district play 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at home against Friendswood (1-6).

Friendswood 78, Alvin 38


Looking to jump-start their district season, the Mustangs may have done just that, as Friendswood cruised past Alvin to finish the first half of district play on a high note Saturday afternoon.

Alex DeHoyos had the hot hand, leading the Mustangs with 25 points and Gracen McGregor tallied nine points for Friendswood.

Tanner Bandini and Westin Menchaca each had eight points for the Mustangs.

Friendswood (1-6 in District 24-6A) will be looking to play spoiler as the Mustangs travel to Dickinson (6-1) on Tuesday. First tip is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
