The Texas City Lady Stings overcame a slow start Tuesday to wallop Crosby, 5-0, at Stingaree Stadium in a non-district match.
The win improves the Lady Stings to 4-0 on the young season.
After Crosby dominated possession in the match's first 15 minutes, Texas City got a penalty kick opportunity, with Amanda Valdez cashing in for a 1-0 lead in about the 20th minute.
A long through ball by Angy Orea resulted in a 50-yard breakaway for Karissa Victoria, who finished the run by putting the ball in the back of the net.
Shortly after, as Brooklyn Gallagher was being tripped in the box, she pulled the ball back to Victoria, who snuck it past a talented Crosby goal keeper.
With a 3-0 lead at the halftime break, Texas City played the second half more composed to add to its lead and preserve the shutout win.
Ashleigh Rivas crossed the ball into the box for Victoria, who completed a hat trick with her third goal of the match.
To cap of their scoring, Rivas caught up to a deflected free kick from Valdez a put in a back-post goal.
The Lady Stings return to District 23-5A play 7 p.m. Friday at home against Santa Fe.
