A rule, which was just discovered Thursday afternoon, that prohibits teams from playing playoff games on the same day as STAAR testing resulted in the cancellation of area-round soccer matches for four Galveston County teams.

All four games, originally scheduled Thursday, have been moved to today.

Most affected were the Texas City Lady Stings, who not only got a new game day, but also had to move their game’s start time and location. The Lady Stings now play area-round opponent New Caney Porter at 5 p.m. today at Crosby High School.

The Clear Falls-Clear Springs girls doubleheader will remain at Deer Park’s Abshier Stadium, just a day later. Clear Falls still goes on first at 5 p.m. against Goose Creek Memorial, and Clear Springs follows against Atascocita.

The Friendswood Lady Mustangs also remain at Channelview’s Maddry Stadium against Kingwood, with the start time being moved up to 8 p.m. today.

Also still scheduled for today are Santa Fe girls against Port Neches-Groves (7 p.m. at Baytown’s Stallworth Stadium) and Texas City boys against Crosby (7 p.m. at Crosby).
