The Santa Fe transportation department better increase their budget for football.

Same for the 5A schools in the Golden Triangle - most of our away games will be 2+ hour drives

At least Santa Fe doesn't have Manvel on their schedule. Looks like they'll have trouble making the playoffs though. Here are the teams in 5A-2 District 12 and last years state rankings from Max Preps. The only cakewalk should be Baytown Lee
Baytown Lee-823
Crosby-173
Dayton-502
Mt Belvieu Barbers Hill-292
Nederland-137
Port Neches-Groves-84
Santa Fe -361
Vidor- 327

Santa Fe should also take Dayton handily.

As the article predicted Hitchcock has returned to Region 4, District 13 3A Division 1.
Here are the state Rankings for each team from last year's Max Preps. The Boling Bulldogs were tough last year but the ranking comes from 3A Division 2.
Altair Rice-489
Boling-214
Columbus-602
Hempstead-707
Hitchcock-433
Palacios-766

With La Marque in with weak Houston teams they will be high scoring in district but that's not good preparation for post season. Sweeny is the only tough district opponent in 4A-2 District 11
Houston Kashmere-870 (State Ranking Max Preps)
Houston Scarborough-1182
Houston Washington-1067
La Marque 525
Sweeny-258
Wharton- 884

Carlos I utilized max preps as one of my sources when choosing teams in the pigskin pics for the last three years. It is often right (about 75% with me), but when the team hits the field they are only as good as they are that night. If I am honored to get to participate again this season, I'm really going to have to do my homework... my buddy Johnny Smecca snuck up and got me last year.

Keith, you are so right . One of the things that is changing with  Lee, is the coach. You may want to factor him in , for your picks.
The Goose Creek Consolidated Independent School District approved the hiring of Tim Finn as the next coach of the Baytown Lee Gander football program and campus athletic coordinator.
Finn has served as the head coach of Wharton since 2012 and developed the program into a consistent playoff program. When he took the job, the Tigers were on a five-year losing streak. Last season, he guided the 4A program to an 8-5 record and a playoff run three games deep.
Prior to taking the Wharton job, Finn had coached at Texas City for 21 years including 10 at a head coach and athletic director. In his head-coaching career at Wharton and Texas City, Finn has posted a 106-69 record.

Sweeny and Wharton will be good competition for La Marque. But the HISD schools? Heck, District 11 would be better served exchanging those teams with
Blossom, Bubbles, and Buttercup!
