Galveston County high school soccer scores and player statistics
Clear Creek 2, Clear Brook 1
Clear Creek soccer had to hang on at Clear Brook to secure a 2-1 win and to take both wins in the home-and-home district series with the Wolverines.
Clear Brook played hard and controlled a majority of the possession during the game, but could not put to ball in the net.
Clear Creek was able to break through in the 37th minute when senior midfielder Kaden Lovett played a long pass out of the back for freshman forward Ronaldo Gonzalez. The freshman forward then played a beautiful chip over the Clear Brook keeper’s head from 40 yards out to give Creek a 1-0 lead going into halftime.
In the second half, Clear Brook still took a large portion on the possession and was able to put the game even at the 65th minute mark as senior midfielder Jordan Greenshield played a great give and go to beat the Clear Creek defense to slide a nice finish past the keeper.
Clear Creek seemed to come back alive and started pressuring the Clear Brook goal, trying to go back ahead. They succeeded when Lovett took a long throw into the box that hit the head of senior forward Jason Keyzer. Clear Brook’s keeper was able to make a great reaction save only for Keyzer to collect his own rebound and play a nice ball through the keepers legs and into the back of the net.
Clear Creek settled in and defended their goal for the last 4 minutes to secure the win.
