Ball High 11, Alvin Shadow Creek 3


The Ball High Lady Tors overcame an early deficit to cruise to a win Tuesday over Shadow Creek.

After falling behind, 2-0, after the first inning, Ball High plated four runs in the top of the second and never looked back.

The Lady Tors took a commanding 10-2 lead following a four-run top of the fourth and a two-run top of the fifth. Shadow Creek added a run in the bottom of the sixth, but Ball High matched it in the top of the seventh.

Ball High scored its 11 runs on just five singles, as six Shadow Creek errors and 10 walks aided the Lady Tors’ cause.

Leading Ball High’s lineup were Gabby Prets (2-for-4, three runs, one RBI) and Copely Davis (1-for-2, two RBIs, two runs). Grace Smith drew a team-best three walks.

Janae Girouard was impressive in the circle, pitching all seven innings and surrendering just one earned run on three hits and one walk with eight strikeouts.

Ball High (4-2 in District 23-5A) will have an early crucial matchup at home against Manvel (4-2) at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday.
