Galveston County’s six representatives at the John Turner Classic hosted by Pearland ISD mostly ended their runs in the tournament with up-and-down showings Saturday.

Playing for one of the gold bracket consolation titles, the Friendswood Lady Mustangs couldn’t overcome New Braunfels Canyon in a rematch of a match Thursday in the tournament, falling by the scores of 18-25, 27-25 and 23-25 in their first match Saturday. Friendswood ended its run on a positive note, though, with a 21-25, 25-23, 25-22 win over Manvel.

The Lady Mustangs will look to build on the positive momentum when they host Cypress Falls at 6 p.m. Tuesday.

Clear Creek setter Kelsey Childers was named to the all-tournament team.

The pre-district schedule doesn’t get any easier for the Wildcats as they next face a tough Pearland Dawson squad 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at a site to be determined.

Slotted in the silver bracket, Clear Falls ended the tournament with a 19-25, 21-25 loss to Flower Mound and a 19-25, 25-20, 25-11 win over Kingwood. Up next, the Knights travel to Cypress Woods for a match 6 p.m. Tuesday.

Also competing in the silver bracket were the Santa Fe Lady Indians, but their day was ended with a 14-25, 25-27 loss to the Clear Brook Wolverines. Santa Fe will look to rebound 5:30 p.m. Tuesday at Needville.

Clear Springs fell in the bronze bracket championship match against Needville (15-25, 22-25). Setting up that matchup for the Chargers were wins over Dallas Ursuline Academy (25-19, 25-18) and Tomball Concordia Lutheran (25-23, 25-17). The Chargers return to the court 6 p.m. Tuesday at Bellaire.
