Competing against much larger schools, the Hitchcock girls powerlifting team had an impressive showing en route to winning the Manvel Girls Powerlifting Meet on Thursday.

Hitchcock’s win was fueled by recording four first-place finishes and four second-place finishes. None of the other seven schools in the meet had more than one first-place finish, and only second-place finisher Sweeny matched Hitchcock’s number of runners-up.

The Lady Bulldogs who brought home individual gold medals were Destiny Hernandez (470 pounds total lifted) in the 105-pound weight class, Victoria Waidner (575 pounds) in the 114-pound weight class, Arianna Daniels (590 pounds) in the 123-pound weight class and Emily Ramos (665 pounds) in the 220-pound weight class.

Hitchcock’s runners-up were Eryanna Copeland (700 pounds) in the 198-pound weight class, Selena Goodman (740 pounds) in the 132-pound weight class, Allie Torres (480 pounds) in the 123-pound weight class, Ava Walker (425 pounds) in the 105-pound weight class and Dianysha Casiano (480 pounds) in the 97-pound weight class.
