Clear Springs vs. Clear Brook

LEAGUE CITY

The Clear Springs Chargers recovered from their district loss to Dickinson two weeks ago by blowing out Clear Falls, 69-27, in last week’s game. They’ll get a chance to improve their playoff hopes when they face the Clear Brook Wolverines at Challenger Columbia Stadium.

The Chargers are 4-2 overall and 3-1 in District 24-6A play, while the Wolverines are 4-2 and 2-2 in district competition.

The Wolverines survived in a 34-27 win over Clear Lake last week. Their only losses of the season was a 55-42 loss to Clear Creek two weeks ago and a 35-7 defeat at Friendswood.

Chargers quarterback Garrett Rooker has thrown for 887 yards and 14 touchdowns this season. Todd Hudson has rushed for 1,041 yards from 109 carries and 10 touchdowns for Clear Springs.

Wide receiver Peyton Sawyer has 385 yards of receptions and eight touchdowns.

Clear Lake vs. Friendswood

LEAGUE CITY

The Friendswood Mustangs will look to continue their surprise start to the season when they take on the Clear Lake Falcons in this week’s road game at Veterans Memorial Stadium.

The Mustangs defeated the Clear Creek Wildcats in last week’s 52-21 win. With the victory, Friendswood improved 6-1 overall and 4-0 in district play.

The Falcons are coming off their first loss in district play last week after falling to Clear Brook, 34-27. They sit at 5-2 overall and 3-1 in district play. The Falcons’ other loss this season was a 35-28 loss to Baytown Sterling last month.

Clear Falls at Alvin

7 p.m. today

ALVIN

It’s a battle between the two winless teams in District 24-6A at Alvin Memorial Stadium.

The Clear Falls Knights are 1-5 overall and 0-4 in district play while the Alvin Yellowjackets are 2-4 overall and 0-4 in district play.

While Alvin fell to Dickinson last week (losing 24-7) the Knights were demolished by the Clear Springs Chargers, 69-27.

Jude Ballew and Camron Davis combined for 74 rushing yards in the Knights’ loss.

Alvin quarterback Ian Tribble threw for 63 yards in the Yellowjackets’ loss to Dicksinson.

Class 5A

Ball High vs. Galena Park

7 p.m. today

GALVESTON

The Ball High Tors are going to be eager to forget about last week’s 55-7 loss to the Fort Bend Marshall Buffalos with today’s game against Galena Park at Kermit Courville Stadium.

The Tors fell to 3-3 overall and 2-2 in District 23-5A. The Tors share the same district record as Santa Fe and Fort Bend Elkins.

Ball High quarterback Martavian Jackson only had 111 yards of passing and a touchdown last week.

But the Tors will have a good chance to get back to their winning ways and push for a playoff bid as they take on the Galena Park Yellowjackets in this week’s game.

The Yellowjackets enter with a 1-5 overall record and are winless in district play at 0-4.

The Yellowjackets fell to the Santa Fe Indians in last week’s game in a 55-14 loss.

Santa Fe vs. Fort

Bend Willowridge

7 p.m. today

SANTA FE

The Indians stopped their two-game district losing skid with a win over the Galena Park Yellowjackets last week and will now return home to face the Willowridge Eagles, who are at the bottom of the District 23-5A standings. The Eagles are 1-5 overall and 0-4 in district play.

The Eagles’ lone win of the season was a 49-28 win over Aldine last month.

Santa Fe enters with a 4-2 overall record and a 2-2 showing in district play.

Texas City vs. Manvel

7 p.m. today

TEXAS CITY

The second-place Texas City Stings will host the District 23-5A leader Manvel Mavericks in this week’s game at Stingaree Stadium.

The Mavericks are undefeated at 6-0 and 4-0 in district play while the Stings are 3-3 overall and 3-1 in district play.

The Stings stuffed Fort Bend Willowridge in last week’s 48-0 win.

Quarterback Phillip McDaniel had seven rushes for 50 yards and two touchdowns for Texas City.

Manvel defeated Fort Bend Elkins last week in a 62-7 win.

Class 3A

Hitchcock vs. Hardin

7:30 p.m. today

HITCHCOCK

The Hitchcock Bulldogs enter this week’s home game with a 3-3 overall record and a 2-0 showing in District 12-3A-I play.

The Hardin Hornets are at the bottom of the district standings at 0-2. Hardin is 4-3 in overall play.

The Bulldogs crushed Hempstead last week, winning 32-6. The Bulldogs rushed for 348 yards while the Hitchcock defense limited the Bobcats to 76 rushing yards on 20 attempts and 134 yards through the air.

La Marque at East Chambers

7:30 p.m. today

WINNIE

The La Marque Cougars are 4-3 overall and 2-0 in District 12-3A-I play, but they’ll face another undefeated team in this week’s district battle when they travel to take on the East Chambers Buccaneers, who are 2-0 in district play and 4-2 overall.

The Cougars shut down the Anahuac Panthers 24-6 last week.

La Marque held the Panthers to 104 yards of offense to force the Panthers to an 0-3 start to district play.

East Chambers defeated Hardin last week 31-12.
