Not very many freshman players can earn All-Conference honors but that’s what Valencia Barrett of La Marque accomplished this volleyball season at Huston-Tillotson.

Barrett, a graduate of Dickinson High School, capped off a successful 2017 season by being named to the All-Conference First Team for the Red River Athletic Conference in the NAIA and earning the Setter of the Year honor.

Barrett was one of three freshmen players named to First-Team All-Conference.

The Lady Rams went 20-9 overall (11-3 in conference) this season which included a trip to the conference championship game Saturday before losing to Our Lady of the Lake 3-0.

The Lady Rams finished second behind Our Lady of the Lake in the eight-team conference standings.

Barrett finished with 41 total kills, 117 total attacks, 33 serve aces and 117 assists. She finished with a set percentage of .423.
