Dutch Kueteman sent out some good news for readers Sunday. The Turning Point is planning to bring back the Drum Tournament for the Physically Challenged.

The event is scheduled for March 23 and 24. The location will be the Galveston Yacht Basin. The GYB will be providing free launches for all participating boats.

If you want to put your boat in the water on Friday and avoid the boat ramp on Saturday morning, you will be charged $1 per foot, the same as in years past. Participants will need to contact the yacht basin to reserve a slip at 409-765-3000.

The format is the same as in past years. Sign up and eat boiled shrimp on Friday evening. Load boats at the floating docks Saturday morning, go fish, return later to BBQ, awards, raffles and auction.

There is one big change this year and that is after 27 years of service Kueteman is passing the baton and will not be in charge of captains and boats.

We will miss Dutch; however, we all know that at some point change is inevitable.

The responsibility has been passed on to Becky Harness. Kueteman said that he has known Harness about three years, and that she is excited to take on the challenge and she is already getting calls.
