The Boeing Co.’s director of NASA programs will take the reins to help lead the Coalition for Space Exploration, an organization of commercial space representatives promoting aerospace initiatives in the U.S.

New coalition chair Arthur “Bill” Beckman was the deputy chair for the organization in 2013.

The Boeing Co. is currently working with NASA to develop a commercial crew capsule, the CST-100, intended to deliver astronauts into orbit for the space agency.

A three-day crewed test flight for the capsule is tentatively set for 2016.
