Part 2

Q. Why should voters choose you? What are your specific qualifications for the position?

A. As a former Naval Aviator I have direct national security experience and while serving on two Senate staffs I worked on critical appropriations initiatives that secured critical infrastructure funding for Texans and protected funding for NASA when it was targeted for cuts.

Q. What are the issues in this campaign? What is your platform on those issues?

A. Voters are concerned about the economy energy immigration NASA and national security. Congress must not make the taxpayer foot the bill for bad policy like the community reinvestment act; bad actors on Wall Street or in Fannie Mae or Freddie Mack; or special interest groups such as ACORN. Congress must invest in a “Manhattan Project” for energy which will create jobs shore up national security and keep Americans’ money here at home. Congress must allow for all options — domestic drilling and production nuclear power clean coal technology and other alternatives but not choose only one. We must win the war on terror — including Iraq and Afghanistan — and not leave until we finish the job. The government must secure our border enforce our immigration laws and devise an easy-to-use verification system that does not put the burden solely on employers. Congress also must ensure that manned space flight continues without a hiatus that would put us at the mercy of the Russians and make our scientific research or national security vulnerable.

Q. If you promise to control or reduce taxes tell us how and be specific. For example how do you propose offsetting the inflation in government operating costs you cannot control (insurance utilities fuel costs etc.) by cutting costs you can control?

A. I will seek to cut spending on non-infrastructure earmarks funding for international organizations that work against America’s interests funds for groups that have an annual profit ethanol subsidies and waste in the budget. We must cut programs that are better implemented by the private sector and we must fix the problems with Medicare before it bankrupts the Federal Government.

Q. What government programs or personnel can be cut to reduce the increasing cost of government? Be specific.

A. Government funding should not go to groups such as Planned Parenthood which has an annual profit of $92 million. The US Government should not provide subsidies for corn-based ethanol non-profitable Amtrack lines earmarks such as the $2 million for the Charles Rangel School of Public Policy and UN committees that support terror and oppose the US and democracies. I also would look to cut programs that are better handled by the public sector.

Q. What specific actions would you take to make the office you seek more accessible to county residents and work efficiently with tax monies?

A. I will ensure that district offices will address constituent needs and have regular staff and office hours. I also will communicate regularly with constituents about issues of concern actions taken by Congress and the impact on the working men and women of our district. I will work to ensure that Texans receive back 100% of the tax money they send to Washington in the form of funding for important infrastructure projects — at the moment Texas is considered a “donor state.”

Q. Tell us a about yourself. How old are you? What is your occupation? What is your highest level of education?

A. I am 47 years old. I grew up in the Clear Lake area and graduated from Rice University and UT Law School. I served as a Naval Aviator for almost 10 years in the Pacific and Persian Gulf and then at the Pentagon. After active duty I worked for Texas Senators Gramm and Cornyn working for Texans. My adult life has been dedicated to protecting our nation and strengthening our families and state.
