The chamber of commerce has no doubt seen Kate Marx’s entire list of memberships and accomplishments, but more impressive is the quality of her contributions to the organizations she has so selflessly served.

Marx worked for Price Waterhouse and Arthur Young and is the co-founder of three companies that still thrive. With San Jacinto Girl Scouts, Marx serves on the Audit Committee and is the volunteer partner to its Chief Financial Officer. She is a member of the World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts’ Financial Development Committee’s Global Initiatives. She participated in the United Nations council on youth. In 2003 and again in 2004, Marx received the Presidential Service Award from President George W. Bush. She served as commissioner for the city of Bellaire, charter revision and compliance.

In 2011, our homeowners association voted unanimously to appoint Marx as its treasurer. Marx instituted a plan to clean up our books. Our auditors commented that they had never seen books so clean or an HOA as financially sound as ours.

The chamber has it right. District 3 needs Kate and so does our city. She will be attending “meet and greet” functions in the district, so please take the opportunity to meet and get to know her.
