Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 8248 will sponsor the annual Memorial Day Graves Decorations by placing flags on more than 3,000 veterans' graves in five cemeteries, including Galveston County Memorial Cemetery, Mainland Cemetery, Perthius Cemetery, Rising Star Cemetery and the Texas City Memorial Park and Cemetery.

The public is invited to assist in the placement of these flags. Those wishing to volunteer should meet up at 7:30 a.m. May 27 at the Galveston County Memorial Park Cemetery, 7301 Memorial St., in Hitchcock.

Volunteers should take head cover and gloves. Volunteers are encouraged to also participate in the recovery of the flags beginning at 4 p.m. May 29.

Refreshments will be provided during and after both projects. For information, call me at 409-770-4366.
