A big shout out to my newspaper carrier who has my paper delivered rain or shine down here in Pirates Beach on the West End. Perhaps, he could serve as a consultant to the post office in getting our mail delivered as timely.

I have lived here three years and have struggled with this problem. Going to the post office doesn't help because you can ring that little bell all day long — but to no avail.

In December, I put my mail on hold and when I went to pick it up I was told they had no mail for me. I was panicked. Apparently, they had lost two weeks of bills, etc. Eventually, it was found. But then I did not get additional mail that week. The post office did not release the hold. Come on, get your act together.

Packages are a whole other story. I have just been having them sent to my daughter's house in Friendswood. I became weary of not getting items for which I have paid.

It is a serious problem. I retired to live here full-time, so I am worried that I will be dealing with this for the rest of my life.
