The City Council in League City voted 6-2 in support of a resolution that would prohibit city departments from cooperating with federal directives or requests to process or house undocumented immigrants.

The same city council in League City that fought so hard to be allowed to open its meetings with a prayer to God has now approved a resolution against helping young people in despair. Surely people can see the irony of these hypocritical actions.

The best thing for the children is to reunite them with their parents in Central America. They were brought here under false promises.

George Croix

How about helping the millions of our own citizen children that could use some in this 'fundamentally changed' economy...?
Is that a possibility to consider, or does it make too much sense and isn't nearly hysterical enough?

Yes, it is ironic. When I hear folks say things like "ship them back", I am reminded of the true "Christians" I met up with in my childhood. We need more of them. Sister Catherine today would be appalled at all of the lack of sympathy in 2014.

So easy to play "armchair border patrol".

I would like to see the folks who say to ship them back to rent a van, gather up 20 or so of these children and take the long days' trip back to Central America. All of the childrens' initial crying while you seatbelt them will make you think twice. I bet you wouldn't make it too far even if you got out of Houston, maybe just far enough on Hwy 59 on the treck toward Victoria...on the way down there. BIG words, all talk, no bite.

Father Snyder with Catholic relief services agreed with Sean Hannity. The best thing for these children is to reunite them with their parents and work to remedy the situation in their home countries. Congress estimated it would cost 8 1/2 million to fly the children home with chartered flights.

I doubt very seriously if these refugee children will ever go back to their home country. To propose bringing them back is "pie in the sky". Seems as though some more 2nd language teachers to be hired is in order. For now.

For future: Eventually, a large number of them will become US voters, and will vote for the current S. Antonio mayor who probably by 2020 or 2024 will be the next contender for President, after Hillary finishes her term(s).

President Obama has said they will be repatriated. So sverige is saying President Obama is going to break ANOTHER promise.

Well, some of them will be repatriated. That's true.

Here's a scenario: If you had a classroom full of children (some of them likely refugees from Central America) and you hear from loudspeaker that there's a tornado warning in the area....you'll tell the children "We will all be OK and not get hurt". Are you 100 percent sure that each and every person will not befall some harm? Are you lying with your statement? Leaders have to bring upon the most positive scenarios...that includes Presidents.

We all know that most won't return despite what the chief executive says. Is it a lie, or not, about what the President says?? It really makes no difference what we think at citizens. This country needs a plan of action b/c they're mostly here to stay.

George Croix

Here's some of that broken promise, Carlos. I think it's up around number 5,764 or close to it.
Repatriate....?

"The Obama administration could soon be housing hundreds of illegal immigrant children at a multimillion-dollar hotel complex in Texas, just a few miles from the Mexican border – and it could cost taxpayers nearly $50 million, according to sources with knowledge of the deal.
"It’s an extraordinarily expensive operation,” said an official with knowledge of the plans. “We’re talking tens of millions of dollars. It’s a lot of money.”
The Palm Aire Hotel is not exactly Club Med but the 7-acre site features three swimming pools, lighted tennis courts, concierge service and a Jacuzzi.
BCFS, previously known as Baptist Child and Family Services, which has a contract with the Department of Health and Human Services to run camps at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio and Fort Sill in Oklahoma, is negotiating to purchase the Palm Aire Hotel in Weslaco, Texas, for $3.8 million. The hotel was built in the 1980s and includes traditional hotel rooms and suites.
“This facility is part of the solution for alleviating overcrowded conditions seen in Border Patrol facilities as a result of the increase in migration from Central America,” BCFS spokesman Asennet Segura said in a prepared statement.
“This facility will be largely self-contained and provide a safe setting for the community to respond to this influx, as well as the children who are separated from their families.”
And they’re talking about hundreds and hundreds of illegal immigrants.
BCFS says they could house as many as 600 children between the ages of 12-17 at the Palm Aire. It also plans to provide medical and mental health care and educational and recreational programs.
“The centralized intake facility will be the first of its kind in the nation, allowing for quick transfer of children from Border Patrol custody AND EXPEDITED RELEASE TO THEIR FAMILIES (emphasis mine)” Segura said.
Once it’s fully operational, the facility WILL COST TAXPAYERS AROUND $50 MILLION (emphasis mine), said a source with knowledge of the expenses.
“Frankly, it’s a lot of money -- no question about it,” adding that AMERICAN TAXPAYERS (emphasis mine) “will be furious” when they receive the total bill.
I reached out to the Department of Health and Human Services for comment but have not received a response."
The Palm Aire Hotel is not exactly Club Med -- but the 7-acre site features three swimming pools, lighted tennis courts, concierge service and a Jacuzzi. The property also has around 10,000 square feet of retail and meeting space.
BCFS said it plans a multimillion-dollar renovation to fence in the property and turn the meeting rooms into medical facilities. It plans to remove the tennis courts and put in soccer fields.
It also plans to hire 650 workers – some making upward of $45 per hour. If you’re doing the math, that’s MORE THAN 16 MILLION DOLLARS ANNUALLY (emphasis mine) in salaries and benefits. AND EVERY PAYCHEWCK WILL BE COVERED BY AMERICAN TAX DOLLARS (emphasis mine).'

Pretty darn 'compassionate', even for the Let Somebody Else Pay crowd.....

Re: Previous post...update...
"A plan to house hundreds of illegal immigrant children at a multimillion-dollar hotel complex in Texas was scuttled after the prospect of taxpayers footing the bill for luxury lodging proved too much of a public relations obstacle."

One little post in the GDN Forums, and same day the taxpayer screwing deal is called off...[smile]
Too bad it doesn't work so well on other things...[beam][beam]

JBG JBG

Okay,...okay,...okay! I'm going to need a little help here. See Ole JBG don't know everything. Some might think that, but It Is not so! So here are my questions. I think Mr. Ponce, or Mr. Gecroix or somebody who is not on that "SUGGA" "KOOL-AID" will have to answer these:
-
1)Why are all these people from South America, who are running from bloody murder, when there are missionaries I know and who I support through my church, and my personal relationship with their spiritual covering counterparts here in the states, are doing JUST FINE in places like HONDURAS and GUATEMALA? They are still laying hands on the sick, getting people saved, walking the streets, and ministering to the same people, these illegals are running from! Talk back to me if you can!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
-
2) Why is it that it takes hordes and hordes, thousands and thousands of illegals to crash our borders for bleeding heart LIBERALS hooked on using other people's money to quench and cool the terrific heat of their guilty consciences, to start claiming Godly love which Jesus commanded to be dispensed far before these people like that ever COME to our borders? Many of us are COMPLYING with the GREAT COMMISSION year in and year out? Jesus said "GO TO THESE PEOPLE, GO TO OTHER NATIONS AND HELP,...NOT WAIT UNTIL THE COME HERE!" I WONDER WHOSE DOING THAT,...DIRECTLY OR INDIRECTLY?"
-
God's Word worked wherever it traveled and hooked up with faith, hope and love. That is the same DAM reason I support missionaries not only to South America but to Haiti and Africa as well!!!! I also have a hand in helping Star Of Hope in Houston and have been doing that for years too! It is important!
-
I for sure do not revel in bragging on what I do for the Kingdom Of God, but I am tired of all this insipid, malicious, name-calling coming from Obama's supporters because some of us steadfastly support the securing of our borders!
-
Please take note that all this I stated above is being done with the money GOD PUTS IN My HAND, and I DON'T ASK UNCLE SUGGA TO DO NOTHING WITH OTHER PEOPLE'S MONEY! Neither is all this extra- partnering with GOD, taking away, from my TIHES, OFFERINGS, and SPECIAL OFFERINGS, which belongs to the Church !I wonder how many of these name callers are doing the same, and can say the same?
-
Father in Heaven, I pray that the truth prevails ! Your honor, Ole JBG rests his case!
-
OH TALK BACK TO ME IF YOU CAN!!!!!!!!

JBG JBG

Oh just in case what I stated below seems unreasonable, let me help you a little. Yes, just a little bit! I did pretty good in the way of money, with all the careers and financial things I've been blessed to be involved with, but because I've planned well from the past, and stayed out of debt, ...I DON'T REQUIRE MUCH to live!
-
The Word says owe no man nothing but to LOVE HIM! Is this helping? I hope so! I hope I never have get on here BRAGGING about what I'm doing for others here in this country, overseas, or in South America. I'm a single man and WELL able to write checks when GOD calls on me, or when the opportunity to LOVE another presents itself! THIS IS THE WAY OLD JBG ROLLS!!!!!
-
NOW WHAT YOU DIDN'T KNOW!!!!!!!! NOW YOU KNOW!!!!!!!!

The results of following a false messiah...you feel compelled to make excuses for their failures, to try to mitigate your own for believing in them.
When no excuse is to be had, then cast blame at anybody else, for anything else, and hope it distracts sufficiently.
As a fall back, throw as much money as possible (but, not your own...) at any and every problem,, and hope the dollar signs get attention away from lack of resolution.
Failing all, yell 'racism', 'sexism', 'war on somethingorother', or whatever else you're told your opinion and message should be.
It's all very 'progressive'....

JBG JBG

Yes sir, and they are following YOUR blueprint given below to perfection if I might add.[smile].

I feel bad about bragging, but a man gets tired of getting charged and labeled falsely, just because his opinions might not match up with another man's opinion, so I bought the heat!
