Galveston, an effort by the Galveston Chamber of Commerce to help students learn entrepreneurial skills, will be May 4. Information is available at

My name is Sean Dillon and I attend Ambassadors Preparatory Academy. Participating in Lemonade Day gave me the opportunity to learn the steps to become an entrepreneur.

I was able to build a stand, obtain sponsors, create a budget and compete for awards. I was able to speak to the community at the Best Tasting Contest, to the members of the Galveston City Council at a meeting, and to my school regarding Lemonade Day.

It has helped me in school, especially with mathematics. More importantly, it has helped me to be a better citizen by learning manners, how to greet people properly, and to form relationships in my community.

My Cinco de Mayo Lemonade won second place for Best Tasting Lemonade. Some of my profit went to support Galilee United Methodist Church and the American Diabetes Association.

Sean Dillon is a student at Ambassadors Preparatory Academy in Galveston.
