Court Appointed Special Advocates of Galveston County has moved offices from Galveston to Texas City. Not only are the offices new, but the organization is experiencing growing pains.

Galveston County CASA is a nonprofit and their purpose is to advocate for the best interest of a child in custody of Child Protective Services. Texas CASA has challenged the local organization to become a stand-alone entity to grow and accommodate the nearly 250 children in foster care in Galveston County alone.

The goal is for 100 percent of the children to have their own advocate so they do not become lost in the system until they age out. Anyone interested in becoming a CASA volunteer will require a thorough background check. If you are interested, please contact Therese Cornwell at 409-572-2552.
