Very shortly after “the left” realized they’d been defeated in the presidential election their leaders in Washington made it clear that they, and those who followed them, would make it impossible for the Trump administration to succeed. They may have done just as they promised.

Their campaign instantly reached Hollywood and the media. From there it was dramatically broadcast to their captive audiences where, in turn, the protests began. For months their message has wormed its way through the population encouraging all to make it impossible for “the right to succeed.” It reached all the way to the bottom giving very emotional support to everyone to do what they can to stop the current administration.

Predictably there are people at the bottom like the man from Illinois who apparently thought he was doing his part June 14. Unfortunately, there will probably be others.

Bob my friend....Bullfeathers!!! but with a core of truth. It would be more accurate to say that both sides have become polarized. But don't let "The Donald" off the hook. it was he who invited some "second amendment" types to take care of Hillary as the election approached. Most gun owners are harmless, law abiding folks but in any cadre, left or right, there are going to be some yahoos who will take such ramblings to heart.

If you believe in polls:
" The latest Rasmussen Reports national telephone and online survey finds that 55% of American Adults believe the shooting incident was the result of political anger in this country. Only 28% think it was a random act of violence by an unstable person. Seventeen percent (17%) are not sure. (To see survey question wording, click here.)
By comparison, just 28% said the shooting of Democratic Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords and the killing of six others in Arizona in January 2011 was the result of political anger."

Liberals and anti-Trumps, you have a right to be angry and express that anger but not to act nor promote violence.
Threatening to burn down the White House, making a photo of holding up a bloodied president's head, makes you look STUPID.
And if you want to impeach Trump, come up with a darn good reason to do so. Collusion has been debunked. No evidence of obstruction of justice since the "investigation" continues. The emoluments charge is silly. Firing an FBI Director who was not involved in the investigation is not a good reason either. Obama "hoped" and Liberals thought it was great. Allegedly, Trump "hoped" and you want to impeach him????? INANE.
And those who promote that Julius Caesar rendition depicting Caesar as Trump should read the entire play. Things did not go well for the assassins.[ohmy]

"Both Republican and Democratic lawmakers are receiving death threats after the House of Representatives Majority Whip Steve Scalise was shot at during a congressional baseball practice Wednesday."
"During a security briefing, California lawmaker Nanette Diaz Barragán said Democratic representatives have been receiving threatening calls on their personal mobile phones, with the caller saying, “You guys are next,” and “You Democrats, you Democrats,”  The threats came shortly after Scalise was admitted to the hospital with  injuries".

"Claudia Tenney, a Republican representative from New York, received an email with the subject line, “One down, 216 to go…” The email further stated: "Did you NOT expect this? When you take away lives of the ordinary people in order to pay off the wealthiest among us, your own lives are forfeit. Certainly, your souls and morality were lost long before. Good riddance.”

Carlos Ponce

Yes, both are receiving death threats but as was pointed out last night, Liberal Trump haters are threatening Democrats. They think Trump should have been removed by now and that Democrats aren't moving fast enough to that goal. Ironic, isn't it? Bernie should realize that many of his followers are nut jobs. His speech was fine for normal people but he should vehemently disavow all groups who advocate violence in his name.

Jim Forsythe

“I have just been informed that the alleged shooter at the Republican baseball practice is someone who apparently volunteered for my campaign,” Sanders said. “I am sickened by this despicable act.”
Sanders then went on to say that there is no place for political violence anywhere in his movement.
“Violence of any kind is unacceptable in our society, and I condemn it in the strongest possible terms,” he said. “Real change can only come about through non-violent action, and anything else runs against our deeply held American values.”

"Sarah Palin published on her Facebook page a list of twenty Democrats who voted for health insurance reform and who are elected in districts that used to be Republican. Their locations on a map of the United States are marked by crosshairs - a symbol that clearly refers to target practice and violence.
These targeted politicians have received death threats. Their offices and homes and the homes of their family members have been vandalized. They are beefing up security measures for themselves and those who are close to them. Sarah Palin might be to blame. "
Gabrielle Giffords was on her list.

CAREful Sanders in the years has said many things many many socialist things.

a symbol described this way. Its all ones perception.

"a symbol that clearly refers to target practice and violence. " Not real;ly.
"We never ever, ever intended it to be gun sights," said Rebecca Mansour, who works for Palin's political action committee, in a interview with conservative radio host Tammy Bruce.
"It's a surveyor's symbol," Bruce suggested. Mansour agreed, adding that the graphic was contracted out to a professional and approved without much thought. "We never imagined, it never occurred to us that anybody would consider it violent," she said. from the Washington Post

Paula Flinn

I saw them. They look like gun sights to me. Why on earth would someone put surveyors symbols on a map? "Contracted out to a professional and approved without much thought?" Why wasn't it removed, then? What BS!

Carlos Ponce

"Why on earth would someone put surveyors symbols on a map?" Paula, you ACTUALLY posted that? Hilarious.[beam][beam][beam]
You see gun sights, a surveyor sees surveyor marks indicating the location of Congressional Districts. It goes down to intent. Can you read minds too, Paula?

Giffords on Palin's Website :  (Before being shot)
I think it’s important for all leaders, not just leaders of the Republican Party or the Democratic Party … community leaders, figures in our community to say, ‘Look, we can’t stand for this.’ I mean, this is a situation where people really need to realize that this rhetoric, and firing people up, and even things … For example, we’re on Sarah Palin’s targeted list, but the way she has it depicted has the crosshairs of a gunsight over our district. And when people do that, they’ve gotta realize that there’s consequences to that action..
."Among the people who gave the impression that these were targets: Sarah Palin. When she announced the list in a tweet, she wrote "don't retreat, instead - RELOAD!" I'm not an expert surveyor, but I'm not sure what sort of tools need reloading. Jonathan Martin points out that after the election, Palin tweeted about her success (18 of the seats went to the GOP) by saying "remember months ago 'bullseye' icon used 2 target the 20 Obamacare-lovin' incumbent seats?"

"Facts: Her district was in the cross hairs! She was shot in the head!
Now whether or not the Uncle Festor lookin' psycho is directly influenced by Palin is NOT the issue!! The issue is she had this woman in the cross hairs and she got shot!! Guess what, this wouldn't be an issue for Palin as much, if she didn't have the target on this congress woman! Period, point blank!!   But combine that map with the Don't Retreat Reload comments and all the rest of the hootnany that comes out of her mouth, and yes, the connections will and should be made!! You can't go around shaking up a hornets nest and then get mad when they sting you!!

"Looks like Palin is also shocked, shocked to find that “Giffords’ Tea Party-backed opponent, Jesse Kelly, held a machine-gun-themed campaign event, whose invitation said, “Get On Target For Victory in November. Help remove Gabrielle Giffords from office. Shoot a fully automatic M16 with Jesse Kelly"

Carlos Ponce

"Facts: Her district was in the cross hairs" Just HYPERBOLE used to promote RAG Websites and Alleged news sources. Don't be so gullible! But then again, Gullible is good description for Liberals.

Jim Forsythe

Like so much with Palin, the roots are on Facebook. On her Facebook page
last year when she posted the a map of 20 congressional districts targeted by SarahPac, the headline of the map: "It's time to take a stand."
At the time Giffords reacted to the map in an interview on a
cable news program. "When people do that, they've got to realize there are consequences to that action," Giffords said.
She was right , as a short time latter , she was shot, and other were killed.

Click on the link below , and Giffords  talks about  what the crosshairs means
to her in a video  .

"Just HYPERBOLE used to promote
RAG Websites and Alleged news sources"
It is in her own words and reported
by ABC news.

If  "It's a surveyor's symbol" what did the symbol mean,
by having the crosshairs on 20 congressional districts ?.
Most people looking at the "symbol" with the crosshairs ,
and not being told were the crosshairs were from,
would not say "surveyor's symbol"!

Carlos Ponce

Jim, the New York Times CORRECTED its allegation that Palin's map was responsible.
"Correction: June 16, 2017
An editorial on Thursday about the shooting of Representative Steve Scalise incorrectly stated that a link existed between political rhetoric and the 2011 shooting of Representative Gabby Giffords. In fact, no such link was established. The editorial also incorrectly described a map distributed by a political action committee before that shooting. It depicted electoral districts, not individual Democratic lawmakers, beneath stylized cross hairs."
https://www.nytimes.com/2017/06/14/opinion/steve-scalise-congress-shot-alexandria-virginia.html?partner=rssnyt&emc=rss&_r=2
They are still getting it wrong calling the surveyor's marks "cross hairs". Just ask a surveyor what they mean.
It reminds me of the time George W. Bush was accused of displaying a Satanic symbol by European Newspapers. The "Satanic" symbol is known to UT fans as "Hook 'em Horns". But there may be some Aggies who consider it "Satanic".[beam]
Just because Giffords got it wrong doesn't mean you have to.

Jim Forsythe

"Just because Giffords got it wrong doesn't mean you have to."
How could she be wrong, as she talked about it about it before the shooting
and not after the shooting,  unlike the  surveyor's idea .
"Palin raised no public objection when people, including Giffords,
at the time said they thought the map showed gun sights."
"If Palin ever meant her crosshairs to be anything other than those of a gun,
she had plenty of chance to correct that image. Especially when confronted by the charge"

"the New York Times CORRECTED its allegation that Palin's map was responsible."
What could be the reason they would do this?
This is  in the time frame that " Sarah Palin threatens to sue"

The New York Times published this, about the same time.
"Seemingly unaware of these facts, some of which were previously uncovered by the Times itself,
the paper’s editorial board published an essay this week claiming that in the case of Giffords and Palin,
“the link to political incitement was clear.”

"Just ask a surveyor what they mean"
Did Jared Lee Loughner  work  in the surveying field ? If not, why would he think, surveying crosshairs,
and not gun crosshair  ! In the USA 39,245.people have licensees for surveying.
Some have  knowledge from working in the field before , like me,
but most will assonate crosshairs with firearms.

"Most commonly associated with telescopic sights for aiming firearms,
crosshairs are also common in optical instruments used for astronomy and surveying."

Show a pitcher  of a crosshairs to a person , and ask them what is it . Most will not say, surveyor's crosshairs.

A book, not about surveying.
Written by award-winning Oregon author Rick Steber, Caught in the Crosshairs is a true story full of intrigue, deception and of justice gone terribly wrong

Face it, Giffords got it WRONG.

Jim Forsythe

Her opinion is wrong?

Carlos Ponce

"No connection has been made between this graphic and the Arizona shooting." ABC News No evidence that her assailant EVER saw the map, . Jared Lee Loughner was mad at Giffords for not answering his question to his satisaction. "According to a former friend, Bryce Tierney, Loughner had expressed a longstanding dislike for Gabrielle Giffords. Loughner kept Giffords' form letter, which thanked him for attending the 2007 event, in the same box as an envelope which was scrawled with phrases like 'die bitch' and 'assassination plans have been made' ."
Bottom line, sicko Jared Lee Loughner had a problem with Gabby Giffords. Palin's Facebook post had NOTHING to do with it.

Yes, even the New York times has backed away from the assertion that the map represented a call to violence. just call it a mis-perception.

Unless Jared Lee Loughner  talks about Palin's Facebook post , no one will know for sure why he did It.
He had a "longstanding dislike for Gabrielle Giffords"
and yet did nothing about it until the crosshairs were posted.
.
Gabby Giffords was right when she talked about the extremists
She also talked about how the crosshairs may not have been a good idea.

Below is a link to Jared Lee Loughner  clips he made.

"no one will know for sure why he did it" Really, Jim? Why do you think NYT issued a correction on their allegation?

It doesn't take much to figure out why this nut job was out to get Giffords.
The media made a big stink about Palin's Facebook because of their dislike for her. That's why it came out after the shooting. Just trying to assign blame to a Republican. Typical.

Jim Forsythe

"no one will know for sure why he did it" Really, Jim? Why do you think NYT issued a correction on words their allegation?"
Lawsuits. if the NYT retracts story, the Palins group may drop it. At this point the NYT lawyers are looking at the bottom line
Was the NYT able to get new information from Loughner , if not, it still a guess why he did it.
Some people, small thing set them off.He may not even know why he did it.
He is a person that surfers from paranoid schizophrenia and may not be able to say what happened or why.
As his mind  may not agree with reality,.

"After his arrest, two medical evaluations diagnosed him with paranoid schizophrenia and incompetent to stand trial.
He was medicated while in jail as part of his treatment. He was again judged incompetent in May 2012.
In August 2012, Loughner was judged competent to stand trial, and at the hearing, he pleaded guilty to 19 counts.
In November 2012, he was sentenced to life plus 140 years in federal prison."

"Paranoid schizophrenia, or schizophrenia with paranoia as doctors now call it, is the most common example of this mental illness. Schizophrenia is a kind of psychosis, which means your mind doesn't agree with reality.
It affects how you think and behave. This can show up in different ways and at different times, even in the same person.
The illness usually starts in late adolescence or young adulthood. People with paranoid delusions are
unreasonably suspicious of others. "

Carlos Ponce

"Paranoid schizophrenia is a kind of psychosis, which means your mind doesn't agree with reality." Like when you still believe in Team Trump collusion with the Russians even though Democratic Congress people and Comey himself say there wasn't evidence of such.[innocent]
