In response to the letter by John R. Cobarruvias ("There are options to keep Americans safe," The Daily News, Feb. 28): Most people are as uninformed about the NRA's efforts toward firearm safety as they are about firearms, as you have shown. Please check with the NRA programs for firearm safety, training and support of the Second Amendment to the Constitution.
You are correct, owning an assault weapon is a felony if you do not have the proper Federal Firearms License; by the way, the definition of an assault weapon includes its ability to be fully automatic. The AR15 does not fit that requirement, and therefore, not used by the military.
The liberal news media has assigned the assault weapon title to the AR15 platform and you have bought it. A 12-gauge shotgun firing 00 buckshot is far more dangerous.
