The Fourth of July is a federal holiday — outstanding.
A day off from work and time to take the kids to the beach or to the park to have some barbecue and hot dogs.
Show a little patriotism by displaying Old Glory while you find a spot to enjoy the fireworks.
You can take advantage of all of the sales and save a little money.
You are free to do all of that because of what happened on this day in 1776 — a group of men, our forefathers, came together and created a document that would withstand the test of time and signed it.
They knew full well that by placing their signatures on this document, they would be facing a death sentence for treason.
No longer would we be subjects to a crown.
I can freely state that I think that this is the most important document in the history of the United States of America, and you are free to disagree with me because of it.
I can disagree with the leadership of our country and vocalize it without fear of reprisal.
God bless and keep those July Fourth signers of our Declaration of Independence, and God bless the United States of America.
